“Sloan will go through hell and back for her little brother. And she does, every single night.
Forced to remain in a relationship with the dangerous and corrupt Asa Jackson, Sloan will do whatever it takes to make sure her brother has what he needs.
Nothing will get in her way.
Nothing except Carter.
Sloan is the only good thing to ever happen to Asa. He knows this and he never plans on letting her go; even if she doesn’t approve of his lifestyle. But despite Sloan’s disapproval, Asa knows what it takes to get what he wants. He knows what he needs to do to remain on top.
Nothing will get in his way.
Nothing except Carter.”
As usual, it’s prevalent to CoHo to make a book with multiple POVs. I like the idea, at least we can have knowledge on each sides of the story. Still, it’s confusing, but engaging.
How sad it is to be stuck in the same old place, and you have nowhere to go, no one to ask for help, but the person you don’t ever want to be with.
Sloan, a girl who has unconditional love for her premature brother, that she’d do anything for him. She’s the sister you’ll want to have. All she ever wanted was to be able to support Stephen. With Asa, she can, but also with Asa, she’ll never get a chance for solitude. She’s fragile, broken.
Let’s talk about this Asa fucking asshole. That jerk. I loathe him. He’s nothing but an anchor to Sloan’s ship, not letting her move. I pity him. He’s a lying, cheating, son of a btch. Brain washed by his jerk of a father. I have no more words to use to express my hate for him.
Carter, oh not a word can describe my feelings for him. He’s perfect! Really, physical features, his humor. The way he acts. His choice of words. His respect for Sloan. Him being softhearted. I just adore everything about him.
CoHo’s characters are always perfect for each other. There are always too much sweetness, too much drama. Nonetheless, it only makes them more appealing. It makes the story more intense. Even if Sloan and Carter are throwing hurtful words to one another, it’s still flawless. Like everything they’ll do, you’ll love it. Though Colleen’s books are pretty much the same on that part, you’ll still crave for it.
4 stars because I needed a protagonist, a woman, who is strong enough to stand up for herself. To be brave enough to walk away and face the consequences of her choices. I needed someone who has a strong voice. Not someone like Sloan who instantly fell in love to a guy who respected her. Who’s so into a guy’s sexual appeal. Not someone like her who screamssave me I like the second epilogue, she just showcased bravery, that must have been done earlier. At least she grew brave and strong. Also, that part was truly sexy.
The book, is unfortunately, almost very cliché if it wasn’t for the undercover thing. Still, CoHo books always give me this unexplainable feelings that up until now I can’t make up a word for it. It was too intense, too dark, too terrifying, too sexual .
THE FIRST EPILOGUE ALMOST MADE ME HATE COHO. I literally felt my heartbeat stop!
Overall, I’m really glad to have this book of her read. by the way, You can read Too Late on Wattpad.
Colleen Hoover, you always leave me dumbfounded!
