Most Anticipated Reads (January 2016)

There are tons of great books that will be published next year-2016, some of them are debut novels, most of them are sequels to a certain book. I don’t like the idea of posting ALL of the books that excites me the coming year, so I decided to post the books I’m waiting for MONTHLY.

The books below will not be presented according to its cover, blurb, author, publication date, or even its number of pages. Together with the book is its blurb/synopsis that I’ve copied from Goodreads, to know more, just simply click the title of the given book and it will redirect you to its Goodreads link, there you will see the publication date.

images-1Truthwitch (The Witchlands #1) by Susan Dennard

On a continent ruled by three empires, some are born with a “witchery”, a magical skill that sets them apart from others.

In the Witchlands, there are almost as many types of magic as there are ways to get in trouble—as two desperate young women know all too well.

Safiya is a Truthwitch, able to discern truth from lie. It’s a powerful magic that many would kill to have on their side, especially amongst the nobility to which Safi was born. So Safi must keep her gift hidden, lest she be used as a pawn in the struggle between empires.

Then Ramona and Sam meet Tom. He’s their band’s missing piece, and before Ramona knows it, she’s falling for him. But she hasn’t fallen out of love with Sam either.

How can she be true to her feelings without breaking up the band?

Cyrus wasn’t always the drug-addled monster he’d become. He was a successful athlete, but when an injury forced him off the soccer field and onto pain medication, his life became a blur of anger, addiction, and violence. All CeCe could do was stand by and watch, until she realized one effective way to take away her brother’s drugs while earning the money she needed for college: selling the pills.

Keeping what goes on in her bedroom a secret has been easy- so far. Her absentee mother isn’t home nearly enough to know about Mercedes’ extracurricular activities, and her uber-religious best friend, Angela, won’t even say the word “sex” until she gets married. But Mercedes doesn’t bank on Angela’s boyfriend finding out about her services and wanting a turn- or on Zach, who likes her for who she is instead of what she can do in bed.

In a perfect world, sixteen-year-old Phoebe Martins’ life would be a book. Preferably a YA novel with magic and a hot paranormal love interest. But when Phoebe finds out that Dev, the hottest guy in the clarinet section, might actually have a crush on her, she turns to her favorite books for advice. Phoebe overhauls her personality to become as awesome as her favorite heroines and win Dev’s heart. But if her plan fails, can she go back to her happy world of fictional boys after falling for the real thing?

  1. I am so excited to get my hands on Truthwitch. The hype surrounding this book is unreal. I just hope it lives up it. Passenger is another book I am looking forward to. Time travel seems to be the big trend in YA for next year and I’m excited to see how it’s explored in this book.

  2. Great choices. I’m 55, disabled and an avid reader so I’ve enjoyed quite a few YA series. I particularly enjoyed Kiera Cass’ The Selection series so I’m looking forward to reading her new stuff.

I’m really excited to read The Love That Split the World. I think I have underwater on my eReader, right now. Also, Firsts! I actually had no idea what that book was about. All I knew was that people were reading it and commenting on how good it is. This list is so cool, especially since I found new books to look for. woo hoo!

  4. TRUTHWITCH IS SO SO SO GOOD! Personally I didn’t love Passenger, but I might be a black sheep on that one. Firsts is a very interesting read! I’m curious what you’ll think! I am super excited to read The Impostor Queen and The Siren and Thief of Lies! Great choices 🙂

  5. I’m super excited for Passenger! Two more days!! My friend has read The Siren before (apparently The Siren was Kiera Cass’s first book and she’s now republishing it, and my friend read the early version?) and she’s absolutely in love with it, so I also can’t wait to read the newly released version 🙂
